Typically made from heavy-gauge, galvanized steel welded into a grid pattern with small openings at the bottom and larger ones at the top, they offer a robust barrier that can withstand pressure from large animals like cattle, horses, pigs, and sheep. Their primary functions are to create secure pens, corrals, feeding areas, and temporary enclosures, providing safety for both the animals and their handlers.

The smaller openings at the bottom prevent young animals from escaping and discourage predators from entering, while the larger openings at the top reduce weight and wind resistance without compromising security.
